"Macpup Opera is the latest from the Macpup team. It is based on Ttuuxxx's 4.2v2 Deeper thought, a "no Bling" version of puppylinux 4.2 with all of the current updates. It has dbus 1.2.4 compiled and installed from source and the Enlightenment e17 desktop version 0.17.999.060 compiled and installed from source with the updated version of librsvg 2.26.0 . Also included is the Opera 9.64 browser compiled by Ttuuxxx.Works with both Xorg and Xvesa video drivers. Runs all the latest e17 themes and backgrounds. There is an option on the exit menu to switch back to jwm, if required."

I just tried it in virtualbox, and have to say it's pretty slick with a beautiful theme. Worth checking out, especially if your computer is starting to get old.

Yes, I tried the Live CD loaded into RAM last night. It is an amazing job, really beautiful and loads of stuff crammed into it. Really really amazing.

I'm having been following the Puppy community for ages and it's surprising seeing how "outsiders" first react finding puppy derivatives. Ahhh, the exposure of distrowatch ;)

Puppy always had an vibrant derivative community; the ease of remastering often makes it easier than converting the standard puppy linux. Both Macpup and the other one exposed this week Teenpup have existed, had previous releases and been worked on for a while. Personally I'll don't think they are most spectacular of the derivatives, (Some simply had amazing things done to them...) but kudos to them on being outed though, they are very fine puplets. :)

I saw this on distrowatch too. Looks very nice.

Puppy 2.14 was my first foray into Linux, and I have fond memories.

If I wasn't so familiar with the extra "bloat" of Ubuntu, I'd probably use a Puplet on my Mini 9.
