Hi all,

Just a bit of research, if you were to buy a computer to run ubuntu on or have it pre-installed on, what specifications would you go for?

eg.

HDD Size
Built In Wireless
Memory
DVD-RW Facilities etc..

Thanks,
Dan

USB3, no cd or dvd drive, small enough to fit in my back pack without taking space from books and notepads.

Overkill. Ubuntu can run very well on a Pentium Pro 100 MHz, 16 MB of RAM, 800 MB HDD.

Are you looking for minimum specs? What do you plan on using it for?

I'm running on 4GB ram, quad core phenom, 500GB HDD, ATI 3850. I do some gaming and a lot of video transcoding and sometimes both at the same time while surfing the web and maybe listening to music without much slowdown.

As far as wlan, get a cheap linksys pci card and you should be good to go.
