W00t! Got Ubuntu running on my new netbook via USB thumbdrive.
Unfortunately I had to install everything to one partition with no swap. The Asus 160 GB drive came with four partitions already set up -- one big one for XP, another big one ("D" drive) on which I installed Ubuntu, and two smaller ones I think are for restoration (no dvd drive on this little thing).
I don't really understand it but I've read there is a limit to how many ("primary"?) partitions you can install, and thus I couldn't install any more for swap or to separate root from /home without deleting others, which I'm not ready to do just yet. I tried reducing the size of the linux partition hoping I could then divide it up but no luck, I'm guessing because I'm maxed out of partitions.
So is there any way to resize the Linux partition without messing up the others, or would I just have to take the plunge and overwrite the big XP partition. I don't want to use Windows, but I just bought this thing and am not very experienced with Linux (a lifelong Mac user actually), so am proceeding cautiously. Thanks for any thoughts!
