First... which WM are you running? KDE, XFCE, GNOME, etc ?

I will suppose you are using Gnome:

System -> Preferences -> Main Menu

You can edit, remove, rename elements in the menu easily.

To erase your resent documents... go to:

Places -> Recent Documents -> Clear Recent Documents

But if you are not using Gnome, then its different...

I didn't get your 1st question. Apologies for that. As LepeKaname said you can clear recent docs like that, also if you want to add more stuffs in Places [e.g. the Download folder] just go to the folder and click on Bookmarks and Add Bookmarks. If you wish to remove anything then edit bookmarks.

sorry for my bad english.
i use gnome desktop.
i want to add my menu beside the "System" not as submenu in Applications.
i think Menu Editor just add submenu in Applications.
and also i want to delete "Recent Documents" submenu in Places, not just clean up my recent documents.
thanks.

I wanted something similar.

There's an app called quick-lounge for Gnome Panel that can do something similar to the QuickLaunch for Windows, including the expand button that pops out the list of everything in the menu.

There's also the Drawer applet, does something similar but not as configurable.

I ended up going to KDE
