admin password

hello,

i am installing ubuntu for the first time. ive been running "puppy", another linux distro...
but want to be clear i am a beginner.

made a major mistake, and forgot the admin password. now i need it to change the way the system boots.

is there a way to reset this password? or wipe everything clean and start fresh? (it was an entirely wiped clean laptop i started with.)

Restart the computer and go into grubs boot menu. Choose recovery mode. Go into the root prompt and change the password.
