Command (or Windows key) + W closes current window. How can I disable this shortcut?

Did you tried System->Preferences->Keyboard shortcuts. :)

Actually, that's a Firefox thing. Doesn't work on other apps or windows.

Frankly, I don't know of a way to turn said shortcut off.

This does not mean I am certifying that these Add-Ons are safe. Download and install at your own risk.
There may be an Add-On that allows the toggling of keyboard shortcuts.

I don't think it's Firefox shortcut, it closes any window...perhaps it's VMWare shortcut? (I'm running Ubuntu as client under MacOS VMWare) Can someone with Windows keyboard test if Windows+W closes window in Ubuntu?

I opened Applications->Games->Mines, Ctrl+W didn't work, but it worked in Applications->Office->Dictionary and gedit, and Windows+W doesn't seem to work.
