I'll be migrating a friend to Ubuntu from Windows for the first time in the next couple of days and I'd like to give him a link to a site where he can go for news, reviews, and tips. I'm looking for a site that's easy on the eyes and aimed at end users, not computer professionals.

Personally, I go to a site that just publishes a list of news links (http://fossplanet.com/), but the info there is both more technical and more business oriented than will appeal to my friend.

The news section at Linux Online (http://www.linux.org/news/) comes close. It's easy to read, has catchy headlines, and focuses on big picture articles. It's not attractive, though, or fun and it doesn't publish how-tos.

Any other recommendations?

Thank you, that's a great suggestion. It's a nice looking news letter. I'll give my friend the link and see if it catches his interest.

You can also encourage him to drop-by here in the Community. I'm sure he'll learn a lot from the Forums as many others did including me.

Ars Technica (http://www.arstechnica.com) has some great articles on Linux regularly, FS Daily (http://www.fsdaily.com) is basically the Digg of Free Software, and Linux.com (http://www.linux.com) has a plethora of community articles varying from highly technical to very much layman's terms.

I'd like to throw linuxtoday (http://linuxtoday.com) out there. I think it has what you're looking for.

Thank you for your links. I'll throw them all at the wall and see what sticks. I've learned a lot from browsing these forums, too. And of course, Google is certainly the best trouble-shooting tool.
