I am migrating from windows, so please consider me a complete linux noob. I installed and updated 9.04, it was working yesterday. I tried open office, installed several games through the package manager and ran them, installed java through the package manager, installed wine through the package manager, installed a windows MMORPG via download through firefox, and had it successfully updating when I went to bed. This morning the monitor was showing no signal and I couldn't figure out how to wake up the computer, so I held in the power button until it shut off. Now every time I start up, I get an ACPI error, but the error changes. Currently its showing "Aborted because broken padding." That gives a kernel error, and the system hangs. Power button to turn off, restart, similar things. I've done this about four times so far.

What do I need to do?

Thats what you get after installing so many things.. :) Just kiddin.
It looks like there are some corrupted files installed. May be you have to reinstall Ubuntu. But I am not sure.
