My first installation of 9.04 was ok until the screen went weird after booting. CTRL ALT F1 or BackSpace not responding! I installed 9.04 once more in another partition along with its own swap. I wonder if its possible to copy all conf files for the X to the old installation in order to become healthy again and then purge the new installation. Exactly which files to copy?
thanks for any help!

PS Perhaps I had installed some ATI Radeon binary drivers that caused the problems. How can I uninstalled them from a command line?

easier than I was afraid... With dpkg I found that I had installed the Catalyst Control Center for ATI graphics "fglrx-amdcccle" along with kernel sources and modaliases and xorg driver, so I had to apt-get remove them all
and my problems solved!
Now I have the second part which is deleting the new installation I had to do in order to get back my ubuntu. I'm not sure that partitionmagic and grub
editing would be enough(?) so any help still welcome!
