I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 atm.

I was play9gn around with Compiz settings and for some reason my taskbar and everything on my desktop vanished. (my desktop folders/files are still there when I use Places to go to them, they just don't show up on my desktop)

I tried resetting the compiz to default but that didn't change anything.

After looking around the forums here I tried adding a New Panel but it would only add to the sides and top, not the bottom.

I tried adjusting the monitor settings but that didn't work.

Anything else I can try?

Adjust the Visual Effects to either Normal or Extra?

Nope. That doesn't seem to have done anything.

Do you remember that things you changed in Compiz?

Here on my desktop, I do not have any icons because I disabled it in gconf-editor. Do you remember doing that or something like that?

It's fixed! :D

Although I'm not sure what fixed it...

I tried [metacity --replace] it dind't seem to do anything, neither did F11, I have no idea about gconf-editor either.

But for some reason I stopped being able to type anything, the keyboard just wouldnt respond so I restarted and now it works..

Colour me relieved but very confused...

Thanks everyone for the help though :)

Good to know that.

Try it again!
