Help!!! I upgraded from Intrepid to Jaunty the other day, and I have a problem I don't understand how to debug. The system boots to the login screen, and prompts for username. When I begin to type, or even if I simply move the mouse side to side, I get a message "Authentication Failed". Clicking OK does not clear the message, and this is as far as the system will go. I have to cycle the power button to reboot. An ISO boot disk of Jaunty allows me to use the computer. I should mention, its an HP Pavillion DV7-1232nr, which is an AMD Turion X2 based system. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You could try reinstalling Jaunty from scratch.

I was hoping not to have to reinstall. Unfortunately, it seems like it might be that kind of problem. Thanks,
