View Full Version : [ubuntu] Changing Boot Drive

I got a SMART error on my boot drive. I was going to replace the drive and install 9.04 again, but I would have to download the images of 9.04 since I upgraded over the net.

Now I have three drives, and the two good ones have plenty of room and I don't really need three drives.

It was suggested that I install GRUB on the second drive, copy /BOOT and that should be it. But I suspect there is a bit more to it than that.

I don't want to boot, in case I have just a short time and waste it.

But I know I put /var /usr and /home on different drives. I can't find how to tell which is one which drive, but I assume there is a CL program that will tell me easily.

Can someone tell me what program this is and give me the steps to follow, so I can read the relevant docs and be confident I can boot and do this reasonably quickly?

Thanks
