GTK Installetion

Dear All,

I am a new user for ubuntu.Actually I shifted to ubuntu from fedora to ubuntu to work on GTK. But I am not sure whether GTK is available defaultly with ubntu or not?
if not where it will be available and how to install it?
even I don't have any idea regarding GTK,if any suggestions how to start?

Please do the need full.Any kind of assistance is appreciatable.

Details of my ubuntu:

Linux ubuntu 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Fri Oct 24 06:42:44 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux
