I was trying to repartition my external harddrive with a ntfs partition the other day and i realized that i couldnt format a partition to ntfs. It was only after a few failed google searches and then finding the chart in view > filsystem support in gparted that i realised that i needed ntfsprogs.

Shouldnt ntfsprogs be included with the ubuntu default installation? are is it not included because its proprietory? Ubuntu can already read ntfs partitions, why not make it be able to create them as well?
