iv been wanting to start a web site and the best looking thing i found was "Weebly (http://www.weebly.com/)". have any of you ever used it? I would rather not fall into a scam, or something just as annoying.

I was thinking about maybe setting up my computer as a server and hosting my own site, but then there is a whole list of problems with that. (the site would only be on when my computer is on, slows down my personal connection if people like my site, and so on). i want to start an ubuntu tech site, most of the ones i see are lacking in some way or another, and seeings how i have limitless time(no job:() i though i might try my hand.

weebly, yola, blogger, wordpress, today.com some good sites for free.

Hostgator $10 a month with all kinds of backend stuff like php, mysql, one click installs for bulletin boards, forums, wordpress and the like.

Things to consider.
1. are you going to need forums? or is it going to be a tips and tricks posting site.
2. are you going to put advertising on it.
3. if advertising will it be adsense from google.

Answer those and we can help steer you in the right direction for hosting.

i don't need forums, its going to be a how to, tips and tricks, news, tutorial kind of deal. i want to be able to able to organise by subject (gaming, networking, server, tips, and so on.) so people (noobs) can easily find what they need. i will probably put advertising, most likely adsense.

im broke and have no job so i can't buy space. :(

check out Drupal. its amazing and i've made a living from making sites with it for a while now.

get a good free host. http://freebeehosting.com/ is a good one, and you can connect it with a free domain from http://www.co.cc

the host is fast and supports all the features you'll need for most sites.

of course, if you get serious with your site, you should get a real domain name... and then switch over to a better /paid host.

rock on
