Not specific to your application of choice, but may I suggest WOT(Web of trust) as an add on?

I got rid of site advisor so I could put the icon on the top bar and lose the status bar altogether.

Other than that I got nothing.

Just a friendly comment.

go here : http://www.siteadvisor.com/#

click on download and you will see that is not supported in Linux, only Windows & Mac...sorry.

As someone who recently migrated from windows, Macafee's SiteAdviser is one of those utilities I really miss. I find that WOT is a very poor substitute. Since as Linux/Ubuntu users we are moderately imune to malicious downloads, its main use would be in detecting phishing scams and secure shopping.

A potential workaround is to add SiteAdviser to the search bar (there is a FireFox add-on to do this, see my signature.)

For a general web ratings visit http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/ubuntuforums.org right click and add it to the search bar.

Unfortunately, http://secureshopping.mcafee.com/ doesn't seem to work from the search bar, but I am not giving up on that yet.

It is not quite as functional as having SiteAdviser installed, but it does allow one to easily check a commercial sites rating before visiting and/or giving out confidential information.
