Stupid Ibuprofen!!! You take 30 minutes to work!!!!!!!! Why can't there be anything faster?!?!?! But my real question is why headaches occur..... Why do they? What causes them, how can they be prevented, etc.

Luckily I don't get migraines yet. It's not that bad, but it's just annoying, and I was wondering what causes them.... why do they occur etc. And it's going away. Don't worry :)

your eyesight changing? I get headaches when it's

1. Too hot
2. Too much wine and not enough recovery sleep
3. Eye Prescription is changing

Also, my wife advocates the use of aspirin/tylenol more than ibuprofen ... unless ibu were taken with a full stomach ... she's a gastroenterologist.

Several areas of the head and neck have nociceptors, and can thus sense pain. These include the extracranial arteries, large veins, cranial and spinal nerves, head and neck muscles, the meninges, raised intracranial pressure, disturbance of the intracerebral serotonergic levels.

Basically, your brain doesn't hurt, your head does. Just take some pills, get well hydrated and get a bit of a nap.

Oh I see..... Yes THAT is illegal in the USA. Even in small doses.

I feel your pain, literally. I suffer from chronic headaches. Many so bad that light and sound are unbearable. Most of the time though, some advil/tylenol migrane, water, darkness and rest "cure" it. The list for causes of headaches are many. Sleep deprivation, caffiene, chocolate, dehydration is the main one, loud noise, stress etc.

Not saying that I endorse such a thing, but that heals so many things.

I suffer from debilitating Headaches, and when I was in middle school about 5 years ago I went to a specialises who determined I had Irlen Syndrome. Which is a sensitivity to light, and some colors. Got some special sunglasses and boom headaches backed off a bit. Not saying you have this just something to look into maybe. I feel your pain

dehydration is the main one
Indeed, I always get a headache when I am dehydrated. If I react fast and drink lots of water the headache is cured, otherwise plenty of water again and a tablet of paracetamol does it for me in about 20-30 mins :P

I usually get 4-5 migranes a month. I usually take some Tylenol at the first sign, and lay down for the rest of the day. What are your symptoms? Maybe they're migranes, too.

i suffer from migraines, get 5-6 a month. It is something that I have had to live with for the past twenty years. I am in a minority as far as the trigger is concerned. washing my hair most certainly triggers one.

What an odd trigger. Is it the massaging your head that does it?

Having not looked after myself as well as I should over the years, I can relate to that. I had two teeh extracted the other day, and am still recovering; there are one or two others that need attention as well. Sometimes the ache as my mouth recovers from the visit to the "murder house" (dentist) is a lot worse than the original toothache. The way things are going I'm going to have to get false teeth, in my younger days I didn't anticipate this happening for several more years.

Speaking of aspirin, I'm on that in its capacity as a wonder drug for people who have experienced heart attacks and/or strokes.

As for a hangover cure: it has been a few years since I've needed one, but remember that taking in plenty of fluids can sometimes help due to alcohol's diuretic effects (water recommended)

Chronic migraine sufferer here. In fact, just spent the day with one. Trigger for me is my upper-back/shoulder/neck problems. Pills have limited effectiveness these days and the side-effects I experience with many of them are unpleasant.

I'll have a headache most days of the week. About one severe, debilitating one a week. Will cause uncontrollable vomiting about once a fortnight (such as happened today).

I take 8mL of Cyproheptadine and 25mL of Amitriptyline each night as a preventative (though they don't seem to have much effect). When I think one of my regular headaches are turning bad, so to speak, the most effective thing I can do is go into a moderate temperature, dark and quiet room, lay flat on the floor and attempt to relax the muscles in my neck/shoulders/back with a, "heat pack" (material sack filled with dry rice or small stones - heat via microwave).

This has limited effectiveness so depending on severity, I'll often place a small, hard implement on the floor (tightly wound-up heat pack or roll-on deodorant bottle usually does the trick); lay on it, aligning it to any muscles I can feel in spasm; use my hands to support my head, keeping it off the floor; bend my knees and lift my abdomen off the ground, so that my body's weight is distributed between my feet and the part of my back/shoulder/neck that is resting on the implement.

If that sounds painful, you're right: I often end up with large bruises on my back from doing this but unless I win a large sum of money and can afford to have a physiotherapist on-hand, 7 days a week, this is the next best thing.

Usually sleepless nights, caffine, loud noises, and looking at my monitors without my glasses give me the worst ones.

Drink a lot of water. It always works for me.

Ah, Ibuprofen. Reminds me of when I got my wisdom teeth out. I was taking Ibuprofen and T3's. When the freezing first wore off, I took 3 pr 4 T3's at once. that was a journey (don't do that).

But yeah, if you don't like headaches, don't become a binge drinker. That's the only advice I can give you.

I very rarely get headaches, thanks to drinking copious amounts of water :D

Also, I find that before a ****-up, it helps not to have an empty stomach :D For some reason, Rice Krispies act as great soakage :lolflag: And to get rid of a hangover? Contrary to what your brain might tell you, I find that a half can of beer and a nice big breakfast clears things right up :D Only trouble is trying to not get sick at the smell of beer when hung-over
