Screensaver comes on, then closes

Every time screensaver is about to start, the screen fades away and then the screensaver starts, then it just stops and goes back to the desktop.
Nothing else is is running usually and nothing is touching the mouse or keyboard.
Also, power save and standby wont activate. They are set at 30 minutes, while the screensaver is set at 10.
I'm using intrepid 32 bit.

This is similar to how my screensaver is acting. The first time the screensaver is engaged, the desktop fades away as it should then it Wakes Up, so to speak, back to the desktop. After that happens, the screensaver is fine on each subsequent engagement. Strange... is there a fix for this? I have it set to start after 15 minutes of idle time. It did not do this right out of the box but after a few updates to the system (i have had the desktop for less than a week).
