I just got a Shuttle SP35P2 barebones system with two Seagate 1T drives to do a RAID 1.

I looked up various approaches and liked:

I should have realized it was way old. When I get to manual partitioning it sees both drives but doesn't offer a RAID option. Do I need a different boot CD?

You need to be using the "alternate install cd", not the live cd.

Thanks Jerrys. I downloaded the alt version and installed it. I screwed it up and thought it was all over for awhile. I finally got the disks set right and I'm now posting on a happily working system.

I can understand why the regular desktop doesn't do this. It is really friendly and is getting to the point where you don't have to be a geek to use it. When you get into manual modes it is not friendly and a bad typist like me can get into a world of hurt.

Now I have the fun job of making it a useful system. It will be learning but I will have a great system if I can do it right.
