speed up gnome log in

On 9.04 with ext 4 I boot up pretty fast but now i want to speed up the procces of actually logging in and loading gnome. Ater i type my password and username in to logg in it seems to be a bit slow now compared to boot, is there anyway to make this faster?

Maybe switching back to ext4 if you had better results with it or just try disabling some services and startup applications.
