Anyone tried it? It's pretty cool, similar to the linux terminal, but of course no nearly as powerful.

yes, it definitely is fairly good. which just goes to show that the windows shell is not that bad, it's just that the app is rather crummy. and they don't have any desire to improve it.

It's one sad, sorry attempt to implement a great technology. They overlooked it initially in favor for an all-GUI system, and that mistake will probably haunt them for the rest of their operating system days. Or not, since lots of people don't even know what a command line is.

That said, it's a decent try. It still feels like a tacky add-on, though.

Windows command prompt is the sole reason many users are scared of using even simple commands.

Indeed, the windows shell has always been a pain to work with.
The linux terminal blows it away though.

Or not, since lots of people don't even know what a command line is.I don't think they created PowerShell for the average user. It was because one of the main reasons Windows wasn't being heavily adopted in the server market was because of it's lack of good command line abilities.

Anyway there was always good add-on languages like kixtart and autoit. I use autoit a lot at work for small scripting/programming tasks, you can even build quite nice little utiliy apps out of it, and it's excellent for automating the Windows GUI.
