Installed jaunty (32 bit) from the live CD. I have a dual boot (XP and Jaunty). From the grub menu I can choose XP and it starts just fine. If I choose Ubuntu the screen goes blank. Just a cursor flashing in the upper left corner.

I can boot to rescuecd and set root=/dev/sdc5 and Ubuntu starts like it ought to. I can run terminal, and Nautilus works after I patched it.

What does one do to get past the hang at start up when choosing Ubuntu?

I've attached text files containing the output of "sudo fdisk -l" (fdisk.txt) and "cat /boot/grub/menu.lst" (menu_lst.txt).

Any and all suggestions are eagerly awaited.
