They probably don't even know it doesn't work on Linux, but they are certainly trying to cash on people who doesn't have a clue about software. Norton products didn't get a mile away from my computers, even when I was running Windows. It is one of the worst piece of crapware I ever tried in my life.

It's hardly news, vendors have been offering A-V packages with Linux netbooks for ages.
