regarding hardware compatibility and installation

hi friends , my pc configuration is as follows :
Motherboard : D101 INTEL Series
RAM : 512 MB 400MHz
Processor : P4 3.06GHz INTEL

I am having trouble in installing UBUNTU 8.04 . It shows some I/O error,and does not recognize USB as a result I am not able to install UBUNTU 8.04 at all. .

PLZ help me find the solution to the problems

Are you trying from a LiveCD? If so, when booting, choose the 'Test disk for defects" option and see if there are errors with the disk. If there are, try burning the ISO to CD at a slower speed.
