Package installer not working

I was trying to install amazon mp3 on my machine and when I ran the package installer it says it can't work because it can only run one software manger at a time? I checked the processes and it the only thing like that running...any one have an idea about what's wrong? or at least a alternative to installing amazon mp3? I'm running ubuntu 9.04 jaunty.

Open a terminal and change to where you have downloaded the amazonmp3.deb package
eg if its on the Desktop

cd ~/Desktop
then

sudo dpkg -i amazonmp3.deb

i dont think it worked, i might have fixed the problem. im going to try the package installer one last time

There it fixed!! my add/remove software program was running because i had had problems installing eternal lands yesterday! reinstalled the game and now its working!! thanks for your help!!
