I've had it to my neck with the time I wait before entering a search again, and I bet many of you guys have as well. It's simply an annoyance and frustration. Sure it probably has it's reasons for existence, but I think it's just not worth it. Post here to help end this rule!

Have you run a web server? Think of the load coming from the web spiders that hit a 'search' link. If you ask me, a 15 second wait is a very generous amount of time. Just have patience.

I agree with CharmyBee.

I've posted this before, but I'm going to post it again. I think 15 seconds is very generous. Most other forums I know impose a 60 second wait. 15 seconds is nothing, really.

The forums are strained enough as it is.

Just be patient, this site is one of the most visited forums out there.

It is there for a reason.

I know, 15 seconds is very generous, if there was 0 seconds on this, do you know how fast this webserver would crash? My other forum had a 5 minute search limit.

I didn't even know there was a time limit. I just use google rather than the crappy search feature that's built into vBulletin.

Without it, the universe would collapse on itself. 15 seconds is just enough time to say goodbye.

As someone who hosts, runs, and maintains a vBulletin forum, albeit it one that is a tenth of the size of this one, the 15 second search rule IS very generous. You must think of server loads. Get rid of that rule, and you risk slowing the forums down to a crawl. I know for a fact on my forum, I have tried several search times, and have found a sweet spot to keep my server load manageable.

It's already generous, and use google if you need more.

This has been discussed and answered many times.

There will be no change
