Installing Ubuntu on PS3 Problems

So i've gone through the complete installation process multiple times that i've seen on many videos and tutorials and i get to the penguin kboot screen and when i press enter it does some code **** for a second then just goes black, and stays black. i thought it might have been because of my tv resolution of 1080i but i did the install video mode thing for it and the auto one and it still didnt work. then i reformatted my hard drive and tried again and when i first pressed enter it went to the black screen for a second and then it turned off but the red light was blinking. i have and older 60 Gig model and idk if that is the problem but if someone could please help me that would be great

I have the same problem with 9.04. I get to kboot, hit enter, some text scrolls through and then the screen goes dark.
Sometimes the PS3 will just shut down with a flashing red light.

I have a 20gig model, pretty much the same bit of hardware as the 60gig.
