Today I booted up and pressed ctrl+alt+click and I couldn't move around my desktop cube. When I look closely none of the old desktop effects are working either. The only thing I've done recently is use the package updater and that's all I can see that would stop compiz. When I type compiz --help into the terminal I get this:

Checking for Xgl: not present.
xset q doesn't reveal the location of the log file. Using fallback /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Blacklisted PCIID '8086:2a02' found
aborting and using fallback: /usr/bin/metacity

and then options...

I don't remember seeing that "blacklisted PCIID '8086:2a02'" before is that what has stopped my compiz? If I type compiz into a terminal the same message is displayed then my windows go screwy. All my settings in the compiz config settings manager are the same so IDK what's going on. Is there a better way to start compiz besides typing compiz into a terminal?

by the way I'm using Gnome

Thanks,
