Cinelerra is a powerful free video editor for linux. From the screenshot shown at their website, it is awesome . I didnt try it . If any one wants to try, go to http://www.heroinewarrior.com/cinelerra.php or go to http://www.cinelerra.org . Screen shots are available at http://www.heroinewarrior.com/cinelerra_shots.php . A source code and binaries for Ubuntu 8.04 are available under Gpl . If anyone know any more information, please tell.

There is also a community version. Go to the Cinelerra-CV (http://cinelerra.org/) website for more information.

What linux needs is a not-so-advanced video editor.

There's the upcoming OpenShot if you need something simple.

I also compiled a quick list of video editors over on this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1174486).
