Tired of waiting for the new icon to be showcased (http://blog.mozilla.com/faaborg/2009/06/06/new-firefox-icon-iteration-14-in-context/), so I did it myself. In the end, it's probably going to look different, and I'm sure I messed up the sizes, but something very similar will be in 3.5.
What's the verdict?

Kind of meh... It's just the old logo with some extra shine on the globe.

ZOMG! That blog doesn't have screenshots of what the logo looks like within a Linux environment! Get your pitchforks! Kill the blogger!

Not just any blogger, one of the head people working on "design, visual design, and overall vision". It's not a crime to neglect linux (twice) but it does show how low we are on their list -- in the design department at least.

I don't dislike it, but I have been using these two for FF and TB for ages now. I doubt I'm going to change to that.

I think it looks fine, not a big change.

I really don't even see anything different about it, just more gloss.

I think it's pretty sad that somebody would take that many screenshots and bother to write a blog about it.

It's just an icon, it looks pretty much the same. I know i'm not getting excited waiting for the new release so I get a new icon.

I can't honestly get that excited about a new release of Firefox. It is by far and away the best browser available at the moment, but the upgrade comes out when it does, it is nothing to get overwhelmed about.

Yeah, I guess what I wrote can be misread, I aint getting excited at all, the version I have now is fine as it works, though I will upgrade, I don't care about doing so in a hurry. :)

I like those better ;)

But, really, that new icon is the same, just add shiny white thing then you're done?

That's not a firefox, your comparison is invalid. (Yes, I know firefox has originally firebird).

As for the icon, yea it looks better, but it jsut fleshing out minor details and... it's just icon.

I don't care. the only places where I see the firefox icon is in the taskbar and at the top of the window and in those places it's about 10x10pixel - I doubt I will see any difference. :D

I'm currently using Firefox 3.5pre (Shiretoko), and it doesn't even have the firefox. It's just a globe.

These icons here look pretty, but I see that Mozilla doesn't like alterations of the Firefox logo. They have several pages dedicated to the rules of the ways it can be used. Check it:

It does have more than just shine, I notice the tail has more detail in it. just some subtle but pleasant changes.
