There's a distinct possibility that MultiTouch UI may be coming soon.
Notes on brainstorm indicate the MPX project has been absorber upstream, & multitouch is likely to come with the 2.6.30 kernel.

Now it should "simply" be a case of getting the various windowmanagers ready & make sure the apps won't crash like crazy.
Can't wait to see what Compiz will be like!
