Output tail of log to desktop??

I'm looking to output the tail of a log file to my desktop - i.e. define a portion of my desktop and have command output appear there. I've heard this can be done. I'm running fluxbox as my window manager on top of xubuntu.

Anybody got any ideas about doing this? The google search was awkward.

found it - it's called root-tail.
