booting off cd

just got the ubuntu cd. v8.01. every time i try to boot off the disk the it loads for a while, then displays a message to eject the disk, close the tray and hit enter. when i do this the computer just goes dead. any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi, have you checked the cd for defects? Its one of the options at the main menu of the Ubuntu live cd.
