Hey all!

Ubuntu forum newbie here. (Relatively new to Linux in general).

Trying to install Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex and am at the partitioner.

Have selected to manually configure my settings, and am trying to establish my slack file.

What mount point do I assign for my slack file? If I leave it unchecked, it says it will not be used at all?

Is there a mount point for a slack file, or does the OS simply know how to access the allotment to use for memory?

Many thanks to the board, :D

Hello, hello?!?!?! Is this thing on?

21 views and nobody has an answer to this? (Seems like that's just not right).

Was it a stupid question? I am sincerely puzzled by this question. I have never manually installed Ubuntu before, and I am rolling back to Intrepid Ibex because jaunty failed in so many areas.

Someone please help me!

Can someone please confirm that my message is getting out and I am able to receive replies?

Thanks!

If you mean swap file, the installer should set it automatically.

Hi MacFianna.

More hardware info would really help, because if you have enough ram, and don't need to use suspend, you could do without the swap partition.

I have 2 gigs of ram, and I still let it install swap. It's pretty straight
forward on mine, because I'm not dual booting. My setup likely hasn't used the swap, but it's nice to have it available, just in case it's needed.

Are you dual booting with another operating system?
Do you plan to use suspend?

If you are planning to use only ubuntu, just let the installer

"use entire disk". It will do all the work for you.
