For quite some time I've been looking for a GUI version of iftop (http://ex-parrot.com/~pdw/iftop/) that could close specific connections. There is such a tool called TCPView (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897437.aspx) for Windows, and the closest Linux alternative, the Net Activity Viewer (http://netactview.sourceforge.net/), shows you the connections without any possibility of interaction.

I've contacted the author and we had a short exchange about those features.
As I understand, he is undecided whether they would benefit the project and awaits user feedback.

So... if you haven't tried out the program yet, give it a quick look: deb packages download page (http://netactview.sourceforge.net/download.html).
It'll wait in the Applications -> Internet menu.

If you, like me, think that it could be a bit heavier on features (possibly at the cost of it's current lightweight appearance), and if you care enough, feel free to take a look at the feature request tracker (https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?atid=1022218&group_id=212558&func=browse) and voice your opinion.

Your command did not work for me, and I couldn't find it through a Synaptic search.
