Does it work similar to boot camp in the sense that it won't erase what's already on your system?

depends on how you use it. If you are carefull then yeah it works..

If you're asking can it shrink partitions and allow you to create new ones and/or move existing ones without erasing existing data, the answer is yes -- as long as you're not messing with Vista OS partitions.
