I installed Google Earth and Im running on a xubuntu on a low spec laptop and Google Earth did not run well so I uninstalled it. It was removed but an icon named Google-googleearth.desktop remians and I cannot delete it by normal means. Its annoying. Im very new to this so any help would be appreciated.

There is a few ways to uninstall it.You can go to
system->preference->main menu and uncheck and delete
it from there or you can login in to Nautilus as root
and delete from there.The first would be better i never
like to recommend someone to login to Nautilus as root.

You can also delete it with
gksu nautilus
File System-> usr->share->applications

find the icon and delete it.
