Place Windows (Compiz)

I've been trying to use the the place windows function in Compiz to assign certain windows to certain workspaces as per this thread http://ubuntu-virginia.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=969424
but it isn't changing anything. Help!
(I'm using the mint version of Jaunty)
