Hi everyone, I am a new ubuntu user. Not new to linux in general, been using it off and on since '97. This is undoubtedly the best distro I have ever used. I previously had a gentoo box that I was tired of babysitting and constantly had my hands in, so I gave this ubuntu thing a try.

It rocks! 'nuff said :D

Welcome to the community :)
I also am an experienced linux user since '97, but chose slackware as my core distro, and only came to ubuntu for 64 bit gnome :)

Anyway, hope you enjoy it, you will find debian/ubuntu easy to get on with as you have used gentoo for a long time. 90% of software is in the apt repos, don't build anything unless you absolutely need the latest cvs version.

Yep, Ubuntu is great, it's what made me finally decide to switch from Win XP. I'm still very much a linux noob though.
