Gnome run panel missing command input

One day I logged in and the gnome run dialog looked like this:

As you can see, the text entry is missing.

I have been told that the run dialog exists with the gnome-panel package. I've tried reinstalling this package to no avail.

I've just developed a run dialog in case the gnome one doesn't work. I've attached it. If it doesn't work you may need to install mono.
