View Full Version : [ubuntu] Cannot enable Savage driver on Jaunty

June 7th, 2009, 10:48 PM
I just upgraded my daughters computer (really old) from Edubuntu 7.10 to Jaunty. For some reason the resolution is stuck at 800x600, and it was working before.

I tried re-installing the savage driver with "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg-video-savage -phigh" and even downloading a new driver (xserver-xorg-video-savage_2.2.1+git20090531.a75f0eab-0ubuntu0tormod_i386.deb) but my xorg.conf still does not update with the proper driver.

I do get errors on my X.org logs, which might be related to the hsync values for my monitor (which is unknown under gnome-display-preferences). Still, I'm not a video guy so I'm a bit lost.

Here's all the data:

Hey I have the same motherboard and graphics card too ! What CPU, how much RAM and how well does Jaunty work on it ?

I have to check the cpu, but it has about 512 or RAM. It's actually not bad on Jaunty, but again, I just installed it yesterday and haven't done much to it.
