I have installed ubuntu 8.04 32 bit onto my desktop, after successfully booting into I installed the updates, then the problem occurred. I was always stuck at the Ubuntu loading bar, it would just keep moving back and forth. The recovery console option in grub was also not working. I have reformatted and installed ubuntu 8.04 and updated but still with the same problem occurring. Can anyone give me a solution to this problem?
Note: I was installing ubuntu 8.04 with a liveUSB which was formatted in ext2 then ubuntu iso put on it with unetbootin. I can use the liveUSB with no problem however sometimes it does not load.
I am also downgrading from previously installed Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty which I had previously had no problems with except not being able to use 17x drivers which is why I wanted to make the switch to 8.04.
