I recently upgraded Ubuntu to it's new version 9.04 from 8.10. At first everything was working fine, but as I shut down the computer and came in the next day it seems as if the computer has completely died. At the very begining when it is loading Ubuntu it seems to run just fine until it gets to swapping files. It will say swaping files swaping or something like that for an hour and go no further. I switched to the Windows partition and it says a very important file under FAT has been removed. So now neither of the OS will load. Is there a fix short of swiping the hard drive and reloading the OS?
