college ubuntu course

I am an instructor at Tyler Junior College in the CIS department. I have taught a course on Linux for about the last 12 years using Redhat/Fedora or OpenSuse. One advantage of these distributions has been the availability of textbooks - understand that the advantage of a textbbok is that they have end of chapter questions, labs and testbanks. However, I have become less satisfied with their content and price ($150!). I am considering a roll-your-own course and might use Ubuntu as the distro.
My question is: is there any site or forum aimed at this endevour? I find forums here aimed at educating the newbie; I find information aimed at the high school level; but information aimed at college level seems to be limited. I would like to be able to contact other instructors that would be able to share and coordinate needed materials. I feel they are out there but the internet is a big place.

There's Ubuntu Pocket Guide and Reference (http://www.ubuntupocketguide.com/download_main.html) by Kier Thomas. It is under the Creative Commons License, so it is no cost and legal to download. It may not be a main text book but certainly a good suppliment.

I've used Sobell's books before and find them very well written. What I am looking for is collaboration on the course material like test banks and labs.

you should contact canonical, ask for a grant to develop the basic course...sounds like you are the first.

Not sure what you are going to instruct but many linux related things are distro independent. You could start from a book based on red hat and go from there to Ubuntu.
