So I'm an absolute beginner with ubuntu and i'm not really all that into computers, but my laptop ran vista and that was unacceptable.

So i'm running the partition with vista and ubuntu and i can't figure out how to get my files from vista so i can access them while I run ubuntu. I keep on reading about Migration Assistant but I can't figure out how to A. find it on my computer if it's already there or B. download it.

Any help?

Hi, I think you can only use the Migration Assistant during the install process. If you installed Ubuntu on the same partition as Windows using wubi then you can go to
'places > computer > file system > host' or if you installed Ubuntu to its own partition then you should be able to access all your files on Windows by going to
'places > computer > file system'.

Oh! Thank you. It was all under files/host/users/my name. I had to dig around a while for them, but I got them.

Is there any way to access the migration assistant now, or download something like it?

I don't think there is, but someone else might be able to confirm that.
