View Full Version : what would you like on your pizza?

logos34
June 5th, 2009, 01:25 AM
I'm dreaming of pizza. (yes, this thread is inspired by the 'pie' thread).

Here's a classic:

--3 cheese: mozzarella, fontina, and parmesan
--bell peppers
--black olives
--mushrooms
--caramelized onions

Sicilian-style crust for me (not as much into deep dish). Thin crust is ok.

(oh, and a COLD beer with that--alcohol-free or not!)

I've found more topping is not always better, and you don't have to get exotic. Likewise, certain toppings should be against the law--i.e. TUNA (but what do you expect of the Brits. Men can't dress either ;) )

But to each his own. Every part of the world has their favs. How do you like yours? And your fellow countrymen?

Three cheeses? Pah! I laugh at your three cheeses. Anyone who's anyone knows it's all about Quattro Fromaggio. Yes. Mozzarella, fontina, and parmesan and cheddar, naturally. Caramelised onion and red onions chopped and fried in olive oil. Fried bacon, chunky pepperoni. A thin baste with lots of tomato paste. Oh and serve with garlic bread completely drenched in garlic butter. Yes.

I really dislike meaty pizzas, for me meat + pizza= ick.

I keep it simple, mushrooms and black olives is my fave, sometimes I put on green peppers too.
I prefer veggie type pizzas though I am no vegetarian.

I sauté mine...olive oil goes without saying.

I'm vegetarian so meat's out

Garlic bread is great with pasta dish, but for me it's overkill with pizza (reminds me how when you eat out they always try to fill you up with bread first)

For years I always ordered vegetarian pizza with added salami. People used to make fun of me, but now it's part of the pizza hut menu.

Most commercial pizza have too much meat. As long as there are olives, mushroom, onion and salami, I'm happy.

Obviously you have not found the right pizza yet, pizza delivery services ruin pizzas fopr most folk, as do those frozen pizzas.
Authentic Sicilian is my choice of pizza.

I love meaty pizza:

extra cheese
pepperoni
ham
hamburger
salami

Put that on a thin crust without too much sauce. And hold the beer on mine. I love beer, and I love pizza, but I don't like to drink beer while eating pizza, or eating in general. To me, it makes both the food and the beer taste worse.

Should have done this as a multiple choice poll...

Things I like on my pizza:

• Italian Sausage
• Mushrooms
• Pineapples
• Onions
• Green Peppers
• Ham
• Mozarella and Ricotta cheeses
• Fresh pepperoni
• Extra Sauce

Yeah, those all sound pretty darn good.

Oh, and a Shocktop to accompany it. (I mean, if we're going to do it right, you know...)

Two local places in S.W. Florida I can't recommend highly enough for their pizzas are Maria's and Geo's. Both are different, and both are totally kick-butt.

Lots of interesting posts...Wheat! (Best, I would think, for a thin crust. Have to look into that one.). Nothing like good (hot and mild) Italian sausage, either. I miss that frm the old days--used to get it freshly made at an Italian grocer out in Chicago. They also this great Italian bread with mozzarella kneaded in with the dough--panzarella or something. So simple yet absolutely the best snack ever! (better than any fast food crap).

I had pinneaple a long time ago--another surprisingly good one. Really adds zest. Fruits are often overlooked in cooking.

Everything and even anchovies here please! No seriously, just make pizza yourself: the dough isn't that hard to make (but make sure to put a wet towel on top of your dough when it's resting, otherwise it gets all dried up), tomato sauce is even for kitchen disasters easy (let it cook long enough, the longer the sweeter), and just throw all your left-overs on top of it. Jummy!

My favorite is Pizza Hut's Meatlover's Pizza with a stuffed pan crust.

Our Pizza King has a couple of good ones. The Chicken Ranch Pizza has chicken, bacon, onions and cheddar cheese in a ranch sauce. And, if I remember correctly, the Cowboy Pizza has double sausage, double pepperoni, double hamburger, bacon, mushrooms, and double cheese. It's amazing.

Black Olives, Green Pepper, Mushrooms and some hot Chilli's.
Also it has to be fresh dough and good Cheese like Mozarella and maybe a bit of Monterey Jack.
Pepperoni is Pizza Vandalism IMO.
Also I would not pass on that cold beer although a large Coke with ice and lemon (no straw) is what I usually follow up with.

They actually had the audacity to release something called a, "double decadence", pizza a couple of years ago. You thought cheese in a fold of crust was overkill? Try a 1cm thick layer of cheese on a thin pizza base, topped with a second pizza base and the actual pizza's sauce, toppings and more cheese.

Sadly, my step brother's bogan (then) fiancée ordered the pizzas at a party one time. All the pizzas came prepared that way and being a tad hypoglycaemic, I needed to eat. I was ready to vomit before finishing a single slice.

I love Brazilian style pizzas:

A grande split between:
Calabrese sausage and bacon.
Five cheeses
Chocolate, fresh strawberries and a dab of condensed milk.

And a cheddar cheese filled crust (when I add this I tend to leave out the sweet pizza as chocolate and cheese tends to mix poorly).

Oh how I wish I was back in Brazil so I could enjoy one now.

I largely agree with etnlIcarus about the crimes...Like a house, a pizza is only as good as it's foundation--i.e. dough/crust and tomato sauce + mozzarella.

except feta can be a wonderful topping in my book, as accent adds zip and zest...Roquefort and blue cheese too, though better I would think on a white pizza sauce.

Dominoes is an abomination...why do people waste their money on it?
