I searched for a solution but didn't really turn up what I wanted.

Please advise if there is a thread for this and I will close this one.

I have a Netbook obviiously without the disc drive. How can I put old games i.e. AofE I & II onto a thumb drive and load them under Wine?

Cheers
Chris

You need to make a live-usb.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromUSBStick

As for games like Ages of Empire.

Using a computer with cdrom obviously Pop in the cd. Hook up a usb key. Copy all the files over exactly like the cd. Then you should be able to install the game off the usb key when you plug it in.

Thanks Munky.
All done and installed (under Wine) but I'm having the same problem as one of my other posts. When I click the icon nothing happens?

This wasn't an issue when I installed Hardy on my desktop so it seems related to the netbook remix, maybe?

I really dont have the Ubuntu skills to hunt this problem down. I will also post on the Wine forums to see if I can get a resolution.

by the way, where has the 'Solved' command gone for the forums?

Well if you read http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=147

Also, It won't run from the shortcut. If i try to run from the shortcut it says that it cant initialize any video hardware. playing from the CD menu works fine though

So I'm guessing that you simply need to run it from the CD/USB.
