View Full Version : [ubuntu] Stuck in update loop

I am running Ubuntu 7.10

Update Manager tells me I have 14 updates available. When I opt to Install them I get a warning saying that the software cannot be authenticated.

If I choose to apply them anyway I get a list of 404 not found messages trying to find the .deb files. The only option is to close.

I then get asked to install the same set of updates again.

I know this is an old release now, so are updates discontinued?

7.10 is not supported any more.
You are advised to do a clean install.
However, there are always tricks to get out of doing a fresh install:

It does that say 8.04 LTS is available and I can upgrade. Shall I try that first..?

Well, you can try but it probably won't work because you are running 7.10 and that is EOL. So you need to follow the guide(s) on how to update an EOL (End Of Life, not supported anymore) version.
