Are you a stickler for proper spelling, punctuation and grammar? Do common mistakes made by native speakers of English make you cringe? If so you are welcome here. What are your personal bugbears? Some of mine are,

your an idiot
i could care less about spelling properly
i don't think about it alot
if sum ppl get angry with other's spelling then thats there problem
i love ubuntu, it's applications are great

How about you?

I hate when people use apostrophes to form plurals.

"I didn't do nothing/nuthink"

Adding a k on to the end of -thing. Seriously, where the hell does that come from? It's horrible.

A slightly more obscure one that irritates me: when people mix up complement with compliment.

I agree - I think it stems from "no think"

True: there's probably a whole bunch of similarly sounding words, e.g. affect/effect, your/you're, their/there/they're, two,to,too

Another one that bugs me is "without further adieu"

Sod all those other threads. This isn't the thread for people who find mistakes in spelling, punctuation and grammar amusing! Neither is the the place to discuss words you like or dislike.

This thread is for those of us who are filled with vitriolic rage and contempt for all of humanity when we encounter mistakes! It is for those of us who are so repulsed by such things that we suffer burning hatred in the very depths of our souls for years at a time.

I don't understand this, why spend your whole life correcting other peoples sentences over the Internet? It's not only insulting to the person getting corrected, but it really makes you look like you have no life and nothing better to do.

If you really enjoy correcting other peoples sentences, become an English teacher and keep it within the classroom walls please.

If you have no life as well, have a search through my previous posts. I have never corrected anyone's spelling, punctuation and grammar on these forums. Not a single time. But that doesn't mean I can't get annoyed by mistakes. I just want to throttle the person who made the mistake and tell him, "English is your first language; learn to use it properly you stupid dimwit!"

It`s not the dodgy grammar i find amusing...
Besides,an international forum on the Internet is probably not the best place to spend time if other peoples bad grammar gets to you like that.

This is a Tech support site , not an English class. I am ending this while the flames are still low
