Great find.

I just saw it a few minutes ago while I was browsing through videohelp.com tools section.

I will try it out tonight.

Wow, I remember Elisa from back in the day and it's interface sucked.

This one looks pretty damn sleek.

I'm going to have to test drive this baby in the weekend.

They gotten better, but Elisa was such a darn good name. Moovida is one "meh" name.

Very impressive, it's much more stable than Boxee and the GUI is very sleek and simple

Dammit, I wish I didn't replace Elisa in this. This has absolution no cool 3D effects.

Im trying to use moovida, but the data base function sucks, it has missed out half of my tv shows, that are all named as following

/media/data/tv/SERIES/SEASONNUMBER/SEASONNUMBER-EPISODENUMBER-EPISODENAME.avi

so its ******* obvious what they are, back with elisa i could just go to folder view, as all of my stuff is properly organized it didnt make any difference, but now im having to do constant refine searches, with the wiimote llol

its gona take me a while to add all of my stuff to the library, but based on what i have seen it will be worth it.

but i did prefer the name elisa.

looks great but it wont run on my system. elisa wouldnt either,i guess i was hoping it would change with a new name and version number. does anyone else have problems? i run it and the splash screen comes up but then nothing... it is running in the background using about 50% cpu but i cant see it or kill it. anyone?

elisa is a trademark used in the Nordic countries... i don't know if the name change was due to that or not...

Maybe I'm missing something, but how the heck do you add content to the library(ies). I have tons of video files in my /Video dir and yet my Moovies library is empty.

Think I'll wait for Moovida to progress a little more, great overhaul of the UI, but it lacks functionality that was taken for granted in Elisa!

@ichekryg I'm not sure about adding to your library, but you can browse your drives, just scroll the mouse-wheel (and the panels) to the right, and choose one of the 'external media' options. Sorry I can't think of the exact option name now, I removed Moovida (and it's repos) earlier this week.

I noticed that too. However, I did find some of my movies in the "Unclassified Videos" section. I think Moovida is still very much beta, for the moment.

Moovida impresses me endlessly. I love that it isn't a clone of some other proprietary media center; it's completely unique, and looks great doing it :)

Junkiman, yes, I am able to find all my media files in external media. The questions are: Since it is on my local HD - why is it external? And more importantly, how do I add it to my movies library?

I'm still waiting to be convinced to move away from Windows for my media centre purposes.

I want to be able to use P2P TV applications and Windows has a better selection available. I also use spotify alot and while it does work in Ubuntu the software which comes with my soundcard has more features than the Ubuntu software (special effects, 3d sound etc.)

I couldn't add media to the library either, I though that functionality isn't complete yet %p

Sticking with Elisa for now, but keeping an eye on Moovida too!

Now, when you say, "I cant add media" do you mean you just dont know how or you do know how but it doesnt work?

Anyway, I detail how to add media to your library in a Flickr screenshot below...a lot of labelling is missing from the 1.0 release that should have gone in to make the process a little clearer. That plus some in app streaming how to videos should be coming at some point to detail some of the more complex processes.

Here I demonstrate how to add a picture folder, but same process is used for other media: Adding a Source In The 'Devices & Shares Section' (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mucx/3629687444/in/set-72157619782419780/?addedcomment=1#comment72157619757787879)

I also advise checking in at the Moovida forum for more information about things: Moovida Forum (http://www.moovida.com/forums/)

Why do you link to a porn video in the comment?

How do I make Moovida shuffle through all of my music instead of just one album or one artist?

The first thing I thought when my brother (long time elisa user) showed me it was what a stupid name, having said that, it looks awesome.

I really like the Moovida interface and am very impressed with the way it catalogues my movies collection. Synopsis AND cover art!! Wow...
Now the downside:
playing videos is quite bad. Allways some tearing when video runs "okay". In the worst scenario I just have choppy video with huge slowdowns which spoil my fun.

Mplayer handles the same videos just fine. Even HD content plays just fine.

My laptop isn't big on specs but should be able to handle any kind of media:
Single core AMD Sempron 2Ghz / 2 Gb memory / Nvidia 8200M / Nvidia driver 185.18.14

Yes: when playing movies, compiz is off, running on metacity.
Are you guys experiencing the same problems?

Doesn't work on my system. It flickers and flashes, seeming to battle with other open apps.

Moovida works great on my system but I switched to Boxee because it's not as much of a processor hog on the old computer I'm using for a media centre. It also has more applications for it.

I've found the same, HD video would suffer from tearing and audio sync issues. I was pretty reluctant to ditch it, but i'm glad I recently did. I tried Boxee, but it was too unstable, so i've switched to XBMC. Playback is much better now.

Hmm I just tried it and it's a bit clunky ._.

Oh well, it'll get there :) For now unless it's just something wrong with my pc, I would stay stick to classic ol' Elisa! :)

Is the Moovida project still alive?

A Google translation of this page: http://moovida.blogspot.com seems to suggest the team went their separate ways.

Can anyone shed a light on this? It would be a shame to see Moovida go. :( I much prefer it over XBMC.
